Capivara Cau

How do you keep the connection to your roots alive when you grow up far from home? The Cau project was born from this question. Cau is an exploratory capybara who travels through the wonders of Brazil, serving as a cultural bridge for Brazilian children born abroad.

This independent illustration and publishing project (available on Amazon) combines education and playfulness, translating Brazilian fauna, flora, and diversity into a welcoming visual language for young readers around the world. The narrative journeys through Brazil's major capitals, where I was responsible for translating the unique cultural essence of each state into vibrant illustrations.

To enhance the educational experience, I developed a visual regional indicator for every page. This allows young readers to connect the storytelling with geographic context, fostering a deeper understanding of the country's vast diversity.
